So, in the bid to structure and organise NIP, there has been a lot of pressure on me to adopt certain persons as executives or aspirants without due process, and to adopt certain procedures akin to what other political parties and political party leaders do.
Well, NIP is not like other political parties, and I am definitely not like other political party leaders. What we are most proud of at NIP is that we are not copying the others. We are always thinking about Nigeria and Nigerians and designing rules of engagement for our political sojourn that reflects the future we want to see. That future and what obtains in the Nigeria of today have absolutely nothing in common. It will therefore be suicidal for us to adopt today’s measures in designing a different future for our country and our people. We have set new rules and we will follow them to the letter.
So, at the launch of this noble movement, we do not have State, LGA or Ward Executives because 1) we have not elected people into these roles; 2) we will only elect people we have thoroughly screened and certified worthy of the trust of Nigerians as executives at NIP; and 3) all such elections will hold on our open independent online election platform from May 2018 onwards.
So, those of us who wish to lead NIP can apply for screening soon after completing the process of joining the party. If successful, you will become an esteemed member of our Leadership Cadre from where you can contest any political position you qualify for. Even those of us who are uninterested in elective roles are still highly influential as party leaders. You can host lectures, webinars, symposiums, whatever events you deem necessary to help educate and guide our members – particularly the younger ones. As a Leadership Cadre member of NIP, the floor is open to you to serve in whatever capacity you are able and willing to serve.
As for offices, secretariats etc., we have received so many offers for free use of facilities and spaces belonging to members across the country. We hope more members will allow us the use of their facilities as we grow. Every shop, school, guest house, plaza, shed, office etc. will be of immense benefit to NIP, because even as we are an internet party, NIP needs contact and support centres across the country. We must be on ground to help members join our unique party and help them navigate our pretty complex website.
NIP is predominantly online because we want to be everywhere in the world simultaneously. The good thing about that is that all the information our grassroots network need to solve problems will be readily available to them with just a click. Thank you.
